On the under-card, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, tonight is an interesting bout featuring Khalid Yafai.

The Birmingham fighter will be making a defence of his WBA super-flyweight title against the Japanese fighter, Sho Ishida.

The fight, a mandatory defence, will be a tough one for Yafai with his Japanese opponent being some four inches taller.

However, Yafai doesn?t seem fazed by the height difference, calmly remarking to the media when pushed on the subject,

?Yes, he’s taller than me, but everyone’s taller than me, it’s not hard. Let’s see what he can cope with.’

Whilst Yafai is naturally looking for a successful defence, he?s also looking at the bigger picture.

Yafai knows that a good performance could open up a route to the US market which will allow the WBA champion to earn some big money with Yafai declaring at his pre-fight press conference that it was,

‘Time for a big statement’

Let?s hope the talented fighter gets his wishes granted with a successful defence of his crown tonight.
