News has filtered through that the former British light-welterweight champion Curtis Woodhouse has announced his retirement from the sport.

Woodhouse, who won the British title when he beat Darren Hamilton, on a split decision, back in February, but then lost the same title in his first defence against Willie Limond last month, is one of a rare breed to have carved out a career in two sports.

Woodhouse took up Boxing late on in life having been a professional footballer with Sheffield United, amongst others.

Taking up Boxing in 2006 Woodhouse realized a dream in claiming the British light-welterweight title against Hamilton, promptly announcing his retirement, a decision he was to reverse to take the fight with Limond.

Now having called it a day for a second time, Woodhouse quits the sport with a record of 22 wins and 7 losses.

Here at Vital Boxing we?d like to thank Curtis for the wonderful times he?s given us and we hope that whatever he chooses to do next he?ll prove to be a success.
