Hughie, a nineteen year-old heavyweight, entered the ring with a record of 12 straight wins with seven coming by way of a stoppage.

For his thirteenth fight, Hughie was matched with the American journeyman fighter Matthew Greer.

Coming into the ring in excess of 17 stone Hughie got the job done in emphatic style stopping his opponent in the second round.

Greer was put on the canvas three times in the second round before his corner, very wisely, threw the towel in to protect their fighter.
