With Wladimir Klitscko having signed up to meet our very own Tyson Fury, it remains to be seen who the other major player, on the heavyweight scene, Deontay Wilder, signs to fight next.

Somewhere down the line, the WBC heavyweight champ, Wilder, will have to face his mandatory challenger, Alexander Povetkin.

But in the meantime Wilder, with a record that reads 34-0 with 33 coming by the way of knockout, is expected to make a voluntary defence.

One name has sprung to prominence as a possible opponent with stories emanating from the United States that Wilder has been offered $2 million to face the aging former WBO heavyweight champion, Shannon Briggs.

The proposed bout is set for the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida, but it remains to be seen whether Wilder is prepared to face an aging gunslinger who packs a punch, something his record of 58-6-1 with 51 coming by way of the big KO verifies.

Although Wilder is a big-punching champion, he has his flaws and Briggs is confident that he can exploit Wilder?s weaknesses.

But, having just seen a new force emerge in US heavyweight boxing, what would it do to the sport if Briggs got lucky and became the WBC word heavyweight champion?
