After brushing aside the challenge of Christophe Rebrasse, George Groves was elevated to the position of mandatory challenger for the WBC super-middleweight title.
Whilst many feel that after his back-to-back losses to Carl Froch, George should have been made to earn a chance at another world title crack a little longer, the deed is done and Groves will take on the current WBC champion ? Anthony Dirrell.
However, whether Groves is Dirrell?s next opponent or not remains to be seen.
Dirrell, who has a record that reads 270-1 with 22 coming by way of knockout, is in the fortunate position of being allowed to take a voluntary defence ahead of his mandatory defence against the Hammersmith fighter.
But Dirrell is a wise-guy and could well take on Groves next but that will depend on the money on offer for the fight plus, we suspect, the venue offered.
So the question remains ? will Groves get that third crack at the world title as Dirrell?s net opponent or will the champion make him wait?
Will Dirrell Make Groves Wait?
