Having climbed on to that pedestal labelled ?Heavyweight Champion of the World? it seems that Deontay Wilder seems keen to keep hold of his WBC crown.

But in doing so he remains in danger of alienating some fans when, if the stories coming out of the US are correct, agrees to fight challengers that are, to say the least, dubious.

It appears that for Wilder?s next fight, his camp are in discussions for the big-punching heavyweight to take on the French fighter Johan Duhaupus, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Duhaupus is the #12 WBC contender and although his record of 32-2 with 20 coming by way of knockout, is pretty decent, he?s not (yet) a name that will excite the American public who will, no doubt turn up just to see how long the slick boxing Frenchman can withstand those wild bombs Deontay Wilder has the habit of throwing.

It kind of makes me thing our own Hughie Fury should have taken that offer, even though it was at only four weeks? notice.
