In Birmingham, Alabama tonight, Deontay Wilder makes the first defence of his WBC heavyweight crown.

Wilder, who has won 32 of his 33 fights by knockout and in the other one took the WBC crown off of Bermane Stiverne on points, is facing Eric Molina who comes into the fight with a record that reads 23-2 with 17 coming by way of knockout.

It is a fight that Wilder is expected to win comfortably as he continues his march and personal quest to dominate the heavyweight division and become an American superstar.

At the weigh-in Wilder was ten pounds heavier than in his last fight, weighing in at 229 pounds. Molina, stepping on the scales, weighed in at 239.25 pounds but during the traditional pre-fight stare down it was Wilder that looked the most menacing.

The champion simply stared a Molina whilst the challenger got a little hot under the collar.

Our verdict is that Wilder, once he connects with one of his big punches, will leave Molina wishing he was elsewhere, somewhere around round three we reckon.
