Although Deontay Wilder, the reigning WBC heavyweight champion, suggested he?d be willing to defend his heavyweight title anywhere in the world, I?d imagine he was a little shocked when it was announced that the purse for his mandatory defence against Alexander Povetkin had been won by the challengers? promoter Andrei Ryabinski.

Having won the purse bid it?s naturally expected that the fight will take place in Russia, giving Povetkin home advantage, after al if that wasn?t the case then why bid for the fight.

But having conceded it will be a case of have gloves will travel, it seems that Deontay is set to embrace the situation and is now talking about basing his training camp in Russia, thereby avoiding the long flight to Russia in the week before the fight.

Although it has shades of Rocky IV, it does, in the overall picture, make perfect sense don?t you think?
