You just know that when Tyson Fury is in the building anything can happen.
As we mentioned last week, Tyson Fury was expected to be ringside at the WBC heavyweight title fight between Deontay Wilder and Artur Szpilka last night and that turned out to be exactly the case.
Once Wilder, with a far from impressive display, had gotten rid of Szplka with a tenacious ninth round knockout that rendered the Polish-American unconscious, there were a few words exchanged between Fury and Wilder after the British heavyweight champion of the world climbed into the ring.
Grabbing the microphone, Fury bellowed,
‘There’s only one Tyson Fury.
‘What have you got to say about that, Deontay?’
To which Wilder replied,
‘You’re just a phoney. This is just an act. You know where I am. You know what time, what place. I ain’t scared of nobody. I’ll come to your backyard, baby.’
Prompting Wilder to respond with,
‘Any time, any place, anywhere. I’ll beat you. You’re a bum.’/I>
Before further adding,
‘I don’t play this. You should have been an actor. You can run around like you’re a preacher all you want, but you step in the ring, I promise you, I will baptise you.’
Far more entertaining than the fight I’d say!
