Will it be Hopkins or Kovalev?
This Saturday evening, over in Atlantic City, Bernard Hopkins will go head-to-head with Sergey Kovalev.
The fight, at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, will see Hopkins, now 49 years of age, go up against a fighter who will be looking to add a famous name to his record whilst also unifying the light heavyweight titles.
Hopkins is the current IBF / WBA light heavyweight champion whilst Kovalev holds the WBO version of the crown.
It is a fight that could go either way.
Pundits are divided in their opinion with some suspecting that Hopkins will have the guile to keep his challenger at bay and take the fight on points, whilst others believe that Kovalev will have the power to stop Hopkins.
British fight fans have seen just how hard Kovalev punches with his demolition of Nathan Cleverly when the Welsh fighter held the world title.
For me the fight could well hinge on how successful Kovalev can be in the early stages, if he can rock Hopkins and knock him out of his stride then this could see the career of 49 year-old Hopkins finish. But if the ageing fighter can hang-on in there and keep the fight at a slow pace, who knows!
All in all it promises to be an intriguing night.
Who Will Prevail?
