After a third attempt at winning a version of the world super-middleweight title, this time the WBC version, ended up in disappointment, many suspect the options facing George Groves are diminishing.

For Groves, ending up losing on a split decision provides the Hammersmith fighter with two options.

The immediate clamour is for a re-match, although whether Badou Jack is willing to take that option after taking the decision on the score-cards by the following verdicts:-

? 116-111 (in favour of Jack)
? 115-112 (in favour of Jack)
? 113-114 (in favour of Groves)

is open to discussion. However, in disputing the official verdict, Groves remarked,

?I thought I won the fight decisively. I controlled it with my jab.?

If Groves does decide to box on, it could be a long way back before he earns another, a fourth, crack at a world title.

However, we are hearing mutterings that two options are being worked on for Groves, the first would involve a fight with Martin Murray for the right to fight Arthur Abraham, or the second would be a straight fight against the German world title holder.

Either way, both of those fights would surely represent a last chance scenario for the fighter who has been unlucky when it comes to taking his golden opportunity to snare a world title belt for himself.
