The excitement is building now that it seems that Amir Khan and Kell Brook are set to go head-to-head inside the ring.

The long-time rivals have often been mentioned as candidates for a mega-fight but Khan has always seemed reluctant to take on the Sheffield fighter.

But, with Brook having taken on Golovkin in an unsuccessful world middleweight title fight, the belief is there that Brook has done enough to fulfil the criteria Khan had previously put in place with regards to a fight between the two.

However, as to when the fight will actually takes place remains unclear.

In an interview Khan has inferred that he will have TWO fights in 2017, the big fight being the one against Brook, but he hasn?t committed to the Brook fight being his first fight of the year, scheduled for April.

Talking to his local media, the Bolton News, Khan has remarked,

?I want to be back in the ring around April time and then again at the end of the year.

?I had the hand operation and it feels brand new.

?I think that Kell Brook will be the next big fight for me. It would be massive ? a super fight.?

The danger being that if Khan delays taking on Brook until the summer, Brook?s schedule could see him defend his world title and possibly lose it, thereby depriving the fight between the two of some of its intrigue.

We?ll keep an eye out for further developments or announcements.
