It?s not been the best of weeks, so far, for boxing.

We?ve had the news breaking that Nick Blackwell was back in hospital after somebody was foolish enough to have not only allowed the ex-boxer to climb back in the ring to spar but allow somebody to spar with him.

Thankfully Blackwell is now out of the coma he was in and is in a stable condition and should make a full recovery.

Yesterday we watched on as, during a press-conference to promote their forthcoming fight, on 4th March 2017, David Haye decided he?d land a pre-fight punch on the side of Tony Bellew?s head.

But, we should also not forget that still lying in a hospital bed is Eduard Gutknecht, the German fighter who lost a recent fight against George Groves.

Gutknecht collapsed after the fight and remains in a coma.

To George?s credit the Hammersmith fighter has refused to talk about his victory instead concreting on his opponents? plight with Groves remarking on the social network site Twitter,

‘He is still in hospital in a coma after having surgery the night of our fight 12 days ago?

Groves has also set up a fund to raise funds to help the boxer and his family.

Here?s hoping Eduard Gutknecht makes a full recovery, but all credit to George Groves for the manner in which he has conducted himself since that tragic night.
