Ahead of the clash with Joel Brunker, on Saturday night in Leeds, Josh Warrington had spoken about his desire for an all-British world title fight against Lee Selby.
After his unanimous points decision over the Australian that desire to take on Selby could become a distinct reality.
Both boxers are promoted by Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom team and with both boxers keen for the tear-up to take place Hearn has indicated that the clash could take place next year with, as Warrington wanted, the venue quite possibly being Elland Road.
Warrington, describing the fight with Joel Brunker and also his ambition, remarked after the one-sided victory,
‘Joel is a world class opponent and I knew that I had to be 100% switched on. I am happy with that.
‘This was all about working towards a big world title fight at Elland Road.’
If both Warrington and Selby can remain unbeaten until next summer, the proposed fight could become a huge one for both men, but would you like to pick a winner at this stage?
