Backed by his vociferous support and in his home town of Leeds, Josh Warrington edged a little closer to the big-time last night with an emphatic win over the Australian fighter, Joel Brunker.

Warrington is after an all-British world featherweight fight against the Welshman Lee Selby and the manner in which he totally out-boxed the Australian will have done his no chances no harm at all.

Brunker came with a reputation as a tough customer but Warrington put on a sublime display of his boxing skills to take every round on the score-card, the winning margin being a huge 120-108.

Speaking to the media after the enthralling display he?d put on, Warrington had this to say,

‘It was a big test but I stuck in and showed I can box 12 rounds.’

At twenty-four years of age Warrington has time on his side but in his desire to face Selby appears to be driving the Leeds fighter on and if he can secure a world title fight against Selby, backed by that vociferous support he?d have a chance I reckon.
