Having gone, as they say, into the lion?s den last Saturday evening, to take on Juergen Braehmer for his WBA world light-heavyweight title, Enzo Maccarinelli?s attempt fell apart courtesy of a badly swollen right-eye.
The eye was damaged in a sickening clash of heads in the first round forcing Gary Lockett to throw in the towel after Maccarinelli had struggle don for five gruelling rounds.
However, it appears that it was not all in vain with Frank Warren admitting that Maccrinelli?s brave effort has resulted in the promoter starting talks about a re-match.
It?s reckoned the odds on getting it sorted are pretty good seeing as this initial bout ended after a freak injury.
