Tonight, across the pond, over in California, the man touted as the best the super-middleweight division has to offer, makes his long awaited return to the ring.

Andre Ward, out for 14 months with a shoulder injury that required surgery takes on Edwin Rodriguez.

Decreed as the WBA ?super champion? Ward will be hoping to extend his 26 fight unbeaten record, can?t wait to climb back into the ring and has offered the press a few comments about his hunger to return to what he does best, boxing,

‘I thought I was hungry before the injury, but I’m famished right now.’

‘I’m ready to get at it.’

After such a lengthy absence from the ring, it?ll be interesting to see how Ward fares against an opponent who has an impressive record of his own. Rodriguez will enter the ring undefeated in 24 fights, although Ward remains confident he can beat the Dominican Republic born fighter, remarking,

‘I’ve watched Edwin.’

‘I know his strengths and weaknesses. I’ve prepared to win this fight and dominate this fight.’

Will it be the same old Andre Ward we all came to love and respect that climbs through the ropes tonight?

Well I for one will be tuning into Box Nation, in the early hours of Sunday morning UK time, to see, will you?
