On the undercard of the promotion at the Velodrome in Manchester one fight particularly caught my eye.

Made at lightweight, it involved Liam Walsh, a fighter tipped to make an impression at world title level.

Twenty-nine year-old Walsh was matched against the Brazilian fighter Isaias Santos Sampaio for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental lightweight title.

Walsh didn?t disappoint, knocking out his opponent in the sixth round to add the aforementioned belt to his British and Commonwealth super-featherweight titles, taking is professional record to 19-0 and in doing so produced another emphatic and skilful display of the noble art.

Surely a chance at a world title can?t be too far away for Liam Walsh but it remains to be seen who?ll give him a chance.
