The recent struggles endured by Tyson Fury were, annoyingly, never going to allow the heavyweight to retain the heavyweight title belts he won so dramatically against Wladimir Klitscko, in Dusseldorf.

Despite kind words from the governing bodies with regards to offering the fighter the support he needs, the very nature of the game meant that Tyson would have to either relinquish the belts or be stripped.

The 28-year with his future shrouded in doubt as he battles mental health problems and also a drug-taking accusation, opted, in the end, to relinquish them.

In deciding to give up his belts Tyson had the following to say,

‘I now enter another big challenge in my life which I know, like against Klitschko, I will conquer.

‘I won the titles in the ring and I believe that they should be lost in the ring, but I’m unable to defend at this time and I have taken the hard and emotional decision to now officially vacate my treasured world titles.?

I?m sure you will agree it is a noble gesture and one that should be admired.

As far as Tyson?s promotional team are concerned, Hennessey Sports added that the decision would,

?Allow him the time and space to fully recover from his present condition without any undue pressure and with the expert medical attention he requires’.

Whilst also describing the whole situation as ?heart-breaking?, a statement we concur with.

Here?s hoping Tyson gets his self together and comes back as a force in the division.
