The St Helens middleweight Martin Murray, according to his management team led by Ricky Hatton, is set for a third world title fight this February.

Fighting on the under-card, at the ExCel Arena last night, 31 year-old Murray took the verdict, over eight rounds, against Sergey Khomitsky, an opponent he faced back in 2009 and also beat then.

It has to be said that Murray may have gotten the verdict against Khomitsky but the performance wasn?t one of his best.

Murray?s two previous world title shots have ended in failure having been beaten by the WBA champion Sergio Martinez and also the WBA champion Felix Sturm.

On the evidence of last night, Murray will have to improve dramatically if, come February, his ambition of becoming a world champion is to be realized.
