The moment it was announced that Anthony Joshua and his camp decided they were prepared to fight Charles Martin for the IBF heavyweight crown, on April 9th,the boxing chat has been about nothing else.

The suggestion has been made that, perhaps; Joshua has taken the fight too early in his professional career, something his promotion team, led by Eddie Hearn have admitted.

However, others believe it was too good an opportunity to turn down.

Carl Froch, in talking about the fight, kind of hangs in the latter group with The Cobra remarking to the media,

?At this stage of his career he doesn?t really need to take a risk but I think this shows what type of guy Joshua is personality wise.

?He could have said he?d like to box a few more times and defend the British title before stepping up but he?s gone for it. And it?s not just all about the money because he earns good money when he fights anyway.

?He?s on Sky Box Office and does good numbers ? everyone knows that. I?ve got nothing but admiration for the guy.

?He?s taking a risk but I think it is going to pay off.?

Let?s hope Carl?s right, if Joshua were to claim the crown it wold stick British heavyweight boxing right at the top of the tree with Deontay Wilder the next to be tempted and toppled.
