Second on the bill on Saturday night, at Wembley Stadium on the Joshua v Klitschko under-card was Katie Taylor.

The Irish boxer had made a spectacular start to her professional career winning all her previous four fights.

On Saturday Taylor, who has an Olympic gold medal to her name, was matched against the German fighter Nina Meinke.

The fight was billed as a lightweight world title eliminator.

Taylor, in front of a crowd growing by the minute at the familiar arena, put on an impressive performance, dominating from the first bell and eventually getting a seventh-round stoppage with Meinke having picked up a bad cut and being out-boxed and out-punched.

As a consequence, the fighter from Bray, in County Wicklow, is now expected to get a world title chance against the current WBA world lightweight champion, Cecila Communales, of Uruguay.

On the evidence of the performance the 30-year-old provided on Saturday night, I wouldn?t bet against Katie becoming a world title holder, would you?
