Since winning the IBF welterweight belt, there has been a lot of talk, and quite rightly so, as to where holding the belt could take Sheffield?s Kell Brook.
With a home-coming fight lined up for December, in Sheffield, Brook?s promoter, Eddie Hearn, is looking to next summer and a possible huge showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Both fighters currently have unbeaten records with Brook?s reading 33-0 and Mayweather?s reading 46-0.
But surely a fight with Mayweather is a long way off. Brook has his first defence to think about and rumours of a spring clash with Amir Khan also appear to be in his thoughts.
But what does Eddie Hearn make of it all?
Talking to the media, Hearn has remarked,
?There are three champions in the welterweight division, Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao and Kell Brook,?
?It?s wonderful company and a fight with either of those is a unification fight and a big fight. I think Kell has to establish his profile more in the States, command some more impressive victories, and then definitely in the mix for Floyd Mayweather in 2015. Why not??
Indeed why not!
If the clash could be set up, for next summer, at Wembley Stadium, the financial rewards for both fighters will be huge, Mayweather has always spoke about fighting in front of his British fans, this might just be the carrot that lures him across the Atlantic for a tear-up instead of a promotional show!
Someway Down the Road??..
