After losing his world title in 2016, to Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez, Liam Smith has been given the opportunity to regain his WBO light-middleweight title on 12 May.
Smith, who has suffered just that one aforementioned fight during his career, will be taking on the American fighter, Sadam Ali, on 12 May.
The fight, against the man from New York, looks to be a good match with Ali having lost just once in twenty-seven fights, however, Liam Smith remains confident he can become a world champion again, remarking to the media,
‘I’m confident.
‘I’m naturally the bigger man.’
But Ali, who won the title after defeating the legend that is Miguel Cotto, is relishing the chance of fighting the former world champion remarking to the media,
‘I’m excited to defend my title and to demonstrate that it is not up for grabs. Liam Smith is a great fighter and I’m sure he’ll be ready, but so will I.’
Can Smith regain the title and become a two-weight world champion?
