This Saturday, as you may have read in an earlier article, the Liverpool super-middleweight, Callum Smith should have been facing the experienced German fighter, Jurgen Brahmer, in his WBSS semi-final.

However, it has been announced today that there has been a change of opponent.

Instead of facing Brahmer, Callum will now be taking on the Dutch fighter, Nieky Holzken.

Holzken, 34-years-of-age, has stepped into the breach after Brahmer was forced to withdraw courtesy of a bout of flu, with the 39-year-old remarking,

‘A fight in this state is out of the question’.

Holzken, enters the fight with thirteen wins from as many fights. Sometimes a late change of opponent can cause a fighter problems but Smith, talking about a change of opponent, remarked to the media,

‘I am committed to fighting on Saturday and will fight whoever the WBSS puts in front of me.

‘We got the call as we were boarding the plane.’

Here at Vital Boxing we reckon Smith will have far too much for Holzken and will win the fight by stoppage.
