Next weekend Andre Ward makes a return to the ring after a two year absence.
Ward, one of the most respected boxers around, will be hoping to put on a good display and get back in amongst the big-fights in his weight division.
His opponent for his comeback fight is someone we all know well, Liverpool?s Paul Smith with the fight being made at a catch-weight of 172 pounds.
Smith?s last fight saw him soundly beaten in a second WBO title tilt against Abraham Smith and taking on Andre Ward is a thankless task, even more so when it is in the American?s own backyard.
In discussing the fight Smith has suggested that he needs to box at his very best and hope that Ward has a heart attack Saturday night for him to win.
However, the Matchroom team, led by Barry Hearn, are of the opinion that Smith has a chance if Ward can?t shake off the ring rustiness that might affect him after two years out of the ring.
Personally, all I?ll say is that I hope Smith has picked up a large pay-cheque for what I feel will be a torrid nights? work!
