Female boxing is starting to become something we just can?t ignore.
With Katy Taylor looking to become a world champion and with Nicola Adams also looking to make an impact in the sport the female scene is starting to become interesting.
Over in Detroit, in the US, recently, Claressa Shields had her first title fight since turning professional.
Shields was an outstanding amateur picking up gold medals at both the London and Rio Olympic Games back in 2012 and 2016.
As an amateur Shields had 77 fights and lost just the 1.
Matched against Nikki Adler in Detroit the 22-year-old won the IBF and WBC super-middleweight belts when she stopped her opponent in the fifth round.
It was no mean feat when you consider that Adler from Germany, entered the fight having not lost in any of her sixteen professional fights.
Claressa Shields is a name I reckon we?re going to hear more of.
