On the O2 Arena under-card last night, the Welsh IBF world-featherweight title holder, Lee Selby, defended his title.
Matched against the American mandatory challenger Eric Hunter, Selby made a successful defence of his title in a fight that went the distance and sometimes edged towards the illegal.
Taking the decision on all three judge?s scorecards, by the following:
? 115 ? 111
? 116 ? 110
? 116 ? 110
Selby didn?t have things all his own way suffering the first knockdown of his career in the second round when he was tagged by a left-hook.
Hunter though did himself no favours by having a point deducted for a low blow in the 8th round.
Talking about his victory, Selby had this to say after the fight,
?It was a flash knockdown. I?ve got one of the best chins out there. I wasn?t hurt.?
And when pushed on who could be his next opponent as he looks to continue his career, the Welshman added,
?Carl Frampton and Leo Santa Cruz have mentioned my name and I?m open to offers.?
A fight against Carl ?The Jackal? Frampton would have enormous British interest, let?s hope it can be made.
