The chief support on the Wembley Arena under-card last night, saw Billy Joe Saunders take a warm-up fight ahead of his forthcoming world middleweight title fight against Andy Lee.
The title fight is scheduled for September 19th, in Ireland, and last night Saunders warmed up in perfect fashion against an opponent, Yoann Bloyer, who wasn?t in the same league class-wise.
Saunders dominated proceedings until the fight was stopped when Saunders caught the Frenchman with a vicious uppercut in the fourth round.
Taking about his performance last night and his huge bout with Andy Lee, Saunders is quoted in The Sun as having remarked,
?Blood, sweat and tears all start on Monday.
?I was out for eight months and I needed that fight to brush off some ring rust.
?We all knew he wasn?t Sugar Ray Leonard ? but I respected him to get into the ring.
?He was a game opponent but the one I want is the world title.
?I?m there to do one thing ? smash him up and take the title.
?Andy has it in his head about a big punch ? but he won?t be landing one on me.?
The fight, for the WBO world middleweight title, over in Ireland, promises to be a huge occasion, Lee took the title when many expected him not to whereas Saunders, in his fight against Chris Eubank Junior, had a torrid second half of the fight.
At this moment in time, I?d edging towards a Lee win, how about you?
