Those fight fans looking forward to seeing Billy Joe Saunders defend his WBO middleweight title against Martin Murray will have to wait a little longer to see the bout.
The fight, which was scheduled for the London O2 Arena, on 14 April, has been postponed until 23 June.
The reason being that Saunders has picked up a hand-injury in training.
Talking to the media about the cancellation, Saunders had this to say,
‘I’m gutted for Martin and I’m gutted for the fans.
‘I felt my hand go during a session this week and sought medical advice immediately.
‘We’ve been left with no choice.’
As for Frank Warren, his promoter, he had this to add,
‘It is extremely frustrating as tickets were going very well and we were all geared up for a fantastic evening of boxing on 14 April.
‘I apologise to all of the fans that have bought tickets for the 14 April date but all original tickets will be valid for the new 23 June date.’
Which is nice to know.
