Saunders v Golovkin Moves Closer!

There has already been a substantial amount of talk suggesting that Billy Joe Saunders would be prepared to face the fighting machine that is Gennady Golovkin if the money offered was right.

Here at Vital Boxing we’re starting to believe that the fight could be moving a whole lot closer.

Pictures, appearing on social media, showed Golovkin’s promoter, Tom Loeffler sat in the stands watching the Premier League match between West Ham United and Manchester City yesterday.

Now we very much doubt whether Loeffler had flown to the UK just to take in a Premier League match, we feel that he is here to wrap up a deal that will see Billy Joe Saunders, the WBO middleweight title holder, go head-to-head with Gennady Golovkin, the IBF / IBO / WBA middleweight champion, in a unification match.

If the deal is signed, the unification fight will give Saunders the chance to do something nobody else has done before, namely beat Golovkin.

As for a date for the fight, St George’s Day, April 23rd, is being mentioned.
