Whilst he?d obviously fancy a fight against Genady Golovin, to unify the middleweight division, Billy Joe Saunders is having to be patient.

Golovkin is in discussions with regards to a re-match with Canelo, a fight that will take place in the US.

Meanwhile, looking to become an active champion, Saunders has announced that he will make a fourth defence of his WBO middleweight title, on 14 April, against the English boxer, Martin Murray.

The venue has yet to be announced but it is expected to be the 02 Arena.

For Murray, it will be a fifth attempt at becoming a world title holder, with the St Helens fighter having lost his four previous attempts.

However, he will start the fight as the under-dog against Saunders with the champion having won all 28 of his contests.

Talking about his fourth title defence, Saunders has remarked,

‘Martin Murray is a good fighter and I have got the greatest respect for him. But he’s in the way of what I’m aiming for this year and that is to become undisputed middleweight world champion.?

With the challenger, Murray, adding,

‘I rate Billy Joe as a fighter, he’s one of slickest out there and he is coming off of a great win and will be very confident.

‘I’m very confident, this is my time to become world champion, as it’s the only thing I have left to do.’

It could be a good fight but here at Vital Boxing we can?t see anything other than a win for Billy Joe Saunders.
