After winning the WBO middleweight title back in December, Billy Joe Saunders has yet to make his first defence.

Some seven months down the line the Hatfield fighter may have had plenty to say about other fighters but doesn?t seem in a rush to get back into the ring.

Okay, Saunders may have seen a defence called off, against Max Bursak, after he?d collected a hand injury, but us Saunders fans want to see the champion back in the ring.

We?re hearing that Saunders is pencilled in for a fight on September 17th but no opponent has been named.

Over in the US, the #9 WBO contender, Rob Brant, is ready to step up to the challenge and take on Saunders, Brant would appear to be a far more creditable opponent than the previously mentioned Bursak having won all twenty of his fights and stopping 13 opponents in the process.

Now whether he gets that chance remains in the hands of Saunders and his camp, but it would seem to be a pretty decent first title defence for me as Saunders looks to step up towards bigger things.
