Britain has a new sporting hero in Anthony Joshua.

In stopping Prince Charles Martin to take the IBF world heavyweight title, Anthony Joshua announced his arrival on the world stage.

The likeable heavyweight, who showed the world he has true power in his fists, will now find his face adorning billboards, newspapers and other media vehicles across the globe.

After the scintillating win, Joshua had this to say about his achievement,

?I?m only one-quarter of the way there.

?I?m not going to get too carried away because we still have work to do. We have (David) Haye calling me out, Tyson Fury calling me out. I need to keep on pushing if I?m going to maintain at a high level.?

His promoter, Eddie Hearn, has already indicated that he wants to keep Joshua busy and already there is talk of a clash with either – Tyson Fury, David Haye or the re-emerging Dereck Chisora, but what do we know about our new champion?

Here?s a few interesting facts:

? Anthony Joshua, in becoming the IBF heavyweight champion has done so in a mere 34 rounds.

? He?s also had a mere 16 fights and has won all 16 by knockout.

? The record books show he is this country?s 6th bona-fide heavyweight champion.

? In stopping Prince Charles Martin, Anthony Joshua became the 3rd man to win a professional heavyweight title while still a reigning Olympic champion.

? Last night Anthony Joshua became the first Briton to win both the super-heavyweight Olympic gold and a version of the world-heavyweight title

? Anthony Joshua has only, in his 16 professional fights, gone past three rounds once, against Dillian Whyte he was forced into taking seven rounds before he landed the knockout punch
