The 40th anniversary of the Rumble in the Jungle, arguably the greatest ever seen, has been marked but the ring in which this fight took place is missing!

In actual fact the ring that Mohamed Ali and George Foreman fought in on October 30th 1974 in the country formerly known as Zaire has actually been stolen, as Tata Raphael Stadium manager Barthelemy Bosongo confirmed!

Quoted on Sky Sports, he said: ‘We don’t know where it’s gone, but it’s no longer in Kinshasa.

‘We’re in the process of setting up a judicial investigation.’

It’s been claimed be an ‘anonymous source’ that the ring is somewhere in South Africa?

By all accounts the signs of such a great fight taking place in the stadium are barely visible with the marking of this anniversary barely recognised in the area with the stadium showing plenty of signs of ware over the years.

That is a huge shame….

Positively though Bosongo did confirm that a ‘makeover’ will be taking place at the order of the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo, of course formerly Zaire.
