With tonight being the big fight night in Carson City, California, with Gennady Golovkin facing Marco Antonio Rubio, there were chaotic scenes at the weigh-in.

Whilst the unbeaten Golovkin, with a record of 30-0 with 27 wins coming by way of knockout, comfortably made the weight, his opponent, with a record of 59-6-1 did not!

Rubio, getting on the scales, weighed in at 1-81 pounds over the 160 pound limit, given two hours t lose the excess weight, Rubio did not re-appear for a second weigh-in.

Although the fight will still go ahead, Golovkin?s 160 pound WBA title will not be at stake. As for Rubio, he will be fined close to $100,000 of his purse, but questions have to be asked how and why Rubio arrived at the weigh-in so far over the limit and why there was no apparent attempt to shed the excess weight!

Our verdict is that Golovkin will have too much for Rubio and will extend his long, unbeaten run.
