Finally making his debut in a UK ring, the remarkably talented Guillermo Rigondeaux made sure it was an emphatic one.
Rigondeaux, defending his WBA super-bantamweight title, crushed his opponent, Jamie Dickens on two one-sided rounds.
Ahead of the fight not many pundits gave Dickens a chance of beating Rigondeaux who is ranked by Ring magazine as the fifth best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
After surviving the first round, Dickens was caught by a huge left hook in the second that broke the challengers jaw and forced him to retire.
Following the fight, Rigondeaux had this to say, in his own modest way,
‘I’m not the best, but I’m the most complete.
‘I ripped his jaw out. All those guys that want their jaws ripped out, I’m here!
‘Not 100 of those guys add up to 1 of me. I want hard fights. People make it boring against me once they feel my power.’
I?m sure Warren Promotions would love to get Rigondeaux back to these shores for another fight.
