This Saturday one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet will be in action in Cardiff.
At the Ice Arena, the WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux will be taking on the huge under-dog Jazza Dickens, a fighter based in Liverpool.
Rigondeaux will be fighting on these shores for the first time in a very distinguished fight career that has seen the fighter unbeaten in 16 professional bouts and on the back of an amateur career that saw him emerge victorious from 475 out of 487 bouts.
During his amateur career, Rigondeaux won the gold medal at both the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2004 Athens games.
Promoting an appearance in a UK ring that doesn?t need that much of a push, Rigondeaux, talking to
‘I know you guys are great boxing fans and I am ready to go for you.?
And as for his coach, Pedro Diaz, he didn?t pull no punches when describing his charge, adding,
‘If he is not the best he is the most complete.
‘It is difficult to speak about who is the best, there are a lot of good boxers.
‘For us, he is in a class of his own, he is an extraordinary boxer. He is the only champion to only fight boxers with winning records.’
It would appear that Jazza Dickens faces a huge task but even in defeat a lot can be learned.
