After having been beaten by Tyson Fury, in their huge heavyweight clash in Germany, there were rumours that the champion who had served both boxing and the heavyweight scene might retire.
Having been beaten, after reigning for so long, it perhaps might have been seen as the easy next step.
However, at a press conference held today to promote the re-match that, no doubt, will be just as huge as the first fight, Wladimir confirmed that retirement was never an option, remarking,
‘I got over it,’
‘I was suffering for three days after, then I shook it off.
‘Any rumours of retiring were not true. Three days after the fight I called and executed the option of the contract. That was it.’
So there you have, although I?d imagine that a second defeat against Tyson Fury would definitely be the end of the road for Wladimir.
Retirement Was Never an Option!
