At a press-conference earlier this week, ahead of the Joseph Parker v Hughie Fury WBO heavyweight title fight, there was an unfortunate incident.

It came when Parker?s promoter, David Higgins, burst into the press conference and had a heated exchange with Hughie Fury?s father and trainer Peter Fury.

There appeared to be objections from the Parker camp relating to the selection of Terry O?Connor as the referee and Marcus McDonnell as one of the three ringside judges.

The objections related to the fact that both the aforementioned are British.

Well, it now seems that on the back of the kerfuffle, the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) have made a decision.

The BBBoC has decided that the fight will now be refereed by Marcus McDonnell and that Terry O?Conner will be a ringside judge, a move which Parker?s promoter, David Higgins has described as a compromise.

Quite what the logic is behind the switch remains unclear!

A bit like some aspects of life really!
