Next Saturday, the former WBA world light-welterweight champion Gavin Rees is back in action.

Rees, who recently lost a world title fight against the outstanding American Adrien Broner, will be taking on the former British champion Anthony Crolla.

However, whilst 33 year-old Rees won?t be taking Crolla lightly, the Welsh fighter is hoping that a good performance will entice Ricky Burns into a world title showdown.

Speaking about the possibility, Rees is attributed as having remarked,

‘People are linking me to a fight with Ricky Burns because he’s a world champion and I am hunting a world title shot, so it’s logical.’

Who wouldn’t want to fight a world champion? It’d be another great night with two Brits going at it for a world title.?

I’ve had Ricky’s trainer Billy Nelson in our corner a few times and I’ve sparred with Ricky, so I know him well and he’s a nice lad.?

But he’s got the belt so he’s a natural fight to look for.?

Although Rees has every right to look towards a title fight with Burns, if he overcomes the challenge Crolla presents, I?m not sure that Burns is thinking along the same lines.

What are your feelings on this subject?
