Bury?s Scott Quigg took a majority points decision when, in 12 tough rounds, he took the verdict over Japan?s Othake.

It was a bout that Quigg dominated but was unable to finish his durable opponent who, despite being out-gunned, refused to throw in the towel.

The Japanese challenger, who was bleeding profusely from a cut, didn?t really trouble Quigg and the judge?s points verdict of:-

? 119-109
? 119-109
? 118-110

summed the fight up.

No doubt all the talk will now be of a mega-domestic showdown with Carl Frampton.
