At the Phones4U Arena, in Manchester last night, Bury?s Scott Quigg made a successful defence of his WBA super-bantamweight title.
Taking on the young Belgian fighter, Stephane Jamoye, Quigg systematically took his opponent apart and time was called on the action in the third round.
Quigg easily took the first round, moving around the ring and stepping in to catch his opponents with some sharp shots working to both the head and the body.
The second saw Jamoye come out all guns blazing, unloading a barrage of punches that looked effective but were, in fact, missing the target areas. Quigg weather the storm and started to hurt the challenger with some punishing body-shots.
The end, for Jamoye, came in the third round when a crunching body-shot saw Jamoye hit the canvass and Quigg had that fourth title defence under his belt.
Speaking about the fight, Quigg had this to say afterwards,
?I?m happy with that. I went in there and I systematically broke him down and that?s something I?ve not done before.?
Although Quigg added another successful defence to his record, perhaps, just perhaps, the opponent wasn?t up to the task and, from hereon in, Quigg will be looking for harder fights as he seeks to establish himself as a super-bantamweight legend.
