It?s a no from me!

The big news, in the air, when it comes to the Olympic Games, is that there is a suggestion that professional boxers could be invited to compete in the Boxing competition.

Now to us at Vital Boxing it doesn?t sound to be the brightest of ideas and we reckon the outcome could sound the death knell on the amateur sport.

Barry McGuigan, somebody who will be in the limelight this weekend as his charge Carl Frampton clashes with Scott Quigg is another who has major reservation with the former World Champion remarking,

?It seems crazy and I just don?t see how it could work practically.

?It almost seems like a publicity stunt.

?How can you have an elite 12-round fighter coming in and boxing over three three-minute rounds, which is a sprint?

?It?d take months to get used to doing that again and you?d run the risk of putting your reputation on the line for nothing.

?I just don?t see you getting the superstars of the sport to come back down and box at the Olympic Games.?

Let?s hope this is an idea that doesn?t come to fruition.
