Last night, on the under-card of the Eubank Jnr v Quinlan IBO super-middleweight fight, the Liverpool heavyweight David Price suffered a defeat.
Matched against the Germany-based Romanian Christian Hammer, for the WBO European title, a win for Price was set to open the door for a world title challenge, possibly against the likes of Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker.
Unfortunately it wasn?t to be.
Although things looked rosy for Price when a big punch had Hammer on the canvas in the fifth round, the Liverpool heavyweight tired badly and was stopped in the seventh round.
The defeat was the fourth of Price?s career and it is difficult to see where the 33-year-old goes from here.
Retirement may well be an option as it will be a long road back to being on the verge of a world title chance again.
Price?s Dream in Ruins
