Over in Germany last night, the Liverpool fighter David Price suffered a crushing defeat.
Matched against Erkan Teper, for the European heavyweight title, Price was knocked clean out in the second round.
Thirty-two year old Price, despite being the taller man, never got going against a fighter who looked a little on the flabby side but a fighter that can clearly punch.
The opening round saw Price back-pedalling and trying to keep Teper at bay. Several hard punches got through but Price appeared to be weathering them well.
But, in the second, Price was caught flush with a powerful punch and was knocked clean out. The referee counted to ten but price wouldn?t have made it to his feet if the count had of reached fifty.
The defeat suffered last night was the third of his career having lost twice to Tony Thompson.
Fighting under the Sauerland banner, Price looked to have got his career back on track but this latest defeat puts a huge question mark over where he goes next.
Before the fight Price had suggested that a defeat would not be the end of him, but at thirty-two years of age where does Price go next.
As a ringside pundit he?s been calling out the likes of Anthony Joshua but it remains quite clear that if you can catch Price he, unfortunately, topples.
Is it time for the big man to call it a day?
