Shawn Porter, in defeating Adrien Broner, last Saturday night made a statement.

Having lost his IBF welterweight crown to Kell Brook the American showed that he has aspirations of getting back to the top level and wants another crack at a world title.

Indeed Porter has been quick to point out who he wants to be facing next in the ring.

He?s adamant that he won?t be fighting on the under-card of Mayweather?s (supposed) last fight. In fact he wants one of two opponents next time out, with Porter, now with a record that reads 26-1-1 with 16 coming by way of knockout, remarking,

?Kell Brook is a fight that I always want.

?When you take a loss to someone. I don?t think I should have lost to Kell Brook. There were things I didn?t do right, and I left it in the judges? hands, and it played out the way it played out. If given a second chance, I?ll do everything the right way like I did tonight. That will go differently the next time. That?s always a fight that I want.?

An understandable statement although whether Brook will oblige by giving Porter a chance to reclaim his IBF belt remains to be seen.

As for the other opponent he?d like to be facing, it is, of course, Floyd Mayweather Junior.

However, I?m not sure even Mayweather would have the audacity to take on Porter with Porter?s conqueror, Kell Brook, believing he should be in the opposite corner to Floyd come September.

But then again you just never know do you!
