The big fight across the pond last night took place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It saw the former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter take on the former three division world champion Adrien Broner.
Before the fight had started, Broner had been particularly vociferous about his intentions but it was the fighter Kell Brook took his IBF belt off of that was to come out on top.
Porter won a unanimous decision with the judges scoring the fight after twelve one-sided rounds,
? 114-112
? 115-111
? 118-108
Broner?s only real success came in the last round when a left hook had Porter on his backside. But any chances of the contest being a real spectacle were ruined by Broner?s continual holding for which, finally, he was docked a point in the penultimate round.
It remains to be seen what is next in store for Porter, will he seek a re-match with Brook or will he go down an alternative route towards another world title shot?
