According to some sources, the Liverpool fighter, Paul Smith could be on the verge of getting a third chance of winning a world title.
The 36-year-old is championing the suggestion that his promoter, Eddie Hearn, has told him he?s going to fight the winner of the fight between Tyson Zuege and Isaac Ekpo.
If that is the case here at Vital Boxing we?re more than a little surprised.
Smith isn?t ranked in the top 15 in the division and his last six fights have seen him beaten three times.
Those three defeats came in his two unsuccessful attempts as taking the WBO super-middleweight crown off of Arthur Abraham and in a match-up with Andre Ward.
If Paul Smith is to be granted another shot at the world title then we can only assume Eddie Hearn has some clout when it comes to the governing bodies.
