Over the years there have been numerous reasons why a fight has had to have been called off.

Contract disputes, illness and injury all spring immediately to mind, but I?ve heard a fight having to be called off due to one of the fighters having been hit by a brick whilst out training.

But that is exactly what happened to the Dulwich fighter Ahmet Patterson.

Patterson should have been taking on Liam Williams this Saturday night, in Cardiff, for the British super-welterweight title.

But as Patterson explains,

?I was doing my road work when I noticed a group of men on the pavement around 50 yards in front of me.

?As I ran around them, one of the men struck me in the face with a brick and we got into a scuffle.?

Whilst Patterson will be sat licking his wounds his opponent, Liam Williams, will be fighting Gabor Gorbics for the vacant WBO European title.

Let?s hope Ahmet Patterson is back in the ring soon.
